On Sunday I was invited to try out Claremont Tonic’s new weekend yum cha offering. I use the term yum cha loosely as the place was full of hipsters and not a trolley nor a deep fried moneybag was in sight.

Dylan Robert’s very creative Pan Asian menu offers a decent selection of medium sized dishes designed to be shared and they pack a seriously tasty punch. Conveniently categorised into Cleansers, Steamed, Fried and Vegetable dishes, it was tough to choose as so many dishes had appeal.

The highlights were the Thai take on a Mexican favourite – the spiced pulled duck taco, chicken wing dumplings with crispy skin and the delicious egg yolk and black vinegar dressing and the naughty by oh so nice prawn, almond and corn toast. Yum!
